Clean-up in Aisle 2! (Austin, Texas, Days 1-2)

We made it to Austin with a large entrance.  Tag was overtired on the decent and refused to sit in his seat. I ended up holding him in my lap with one leg over his legs and both arms holding him down. Of course the Harris Clan, 8 rows ahead of us, as well as the rest of the plane had to endure his tantrum. That was his third flight with a 45 minutes screaming fit. You don’t want to be on a plane with us.

The house we’ve rented is AWESOME! We’re on Lake Austin with, a 20 foot water slide that practically catapults you into the lake, 2 kayaks, a hot tub, and a big floaty for hanging out in the water. Tag kept climbing the ladder to the water slide, so finally Ken took him down it. Problem solved! One slide was enough for both kids.

Elle and I enjoyed a long kayak ride even though I knocked her on the forehead or arm a few times with the oar. Tag actually took his nap on the floaty.

Nate and Elle are inseparable – well almost. Here’s a snipped of last night’s car ride home:

Uncle Guy: Elle, you need to give Nate a break. Let him have a little quiet time. Nate, you need to find your patience.

Nate: Elle took all my patience.

Elle: I put Nate’s patience in his dreams. He can get them back at night time.

I love my iPhone navigation skills. I can get us anywhere – I just need to make sure I’m not programming the phone to give us walking directions because that’s not the most efficient route. We’ve also found that we take a lot fewer U-turns when I’m not distracted. Ken has started recruiting Guy as his new navigator, even though we’ve discovered a great park and shopping area with my mistakes.

Oh, and about the name of the blog post. Here’s a conversation between Elle and Ken:

Ken: Elle, did you know Tag was getting sick in the grocery cart?

Elle: Daddy, why do think I was trying to jump out of the cart so fast?

Just Tag’s way of adjusting to Austin. Maybe he over-ate or his stomache didn’t react well to the Mexican food, but he’s his regular live-wire self.
