San Diego Trip, Days #2 and #3
Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 10:33PM Day 2: Spent most of the day at the pool and at a cool park next to the hotel. Ken bought Elle a floaty ring which she loves. She started the day holding on to his neck and finished it floating around on her own and kicking to get from one place to another. Now we have to watch her closely because she's a little too confident and eager. Tag just hung out happy in the stroller in a shaded area.
We went to Old Town to eat dinner at a Mexican restaurant that has been voted best Mexican food many times. It was pretty good. Elle and Tag both slept through the entire meal, which was kinda nice for us. Of course, Elle falling asleep at 6 pm isn't a great thing. She woke up and rallied until past 11. Let's just say I finally threatened to make her sleep on the other side of Daddy if she didn't stop pulling my hair instead of going to sleep. We agreed to let her sleep in the middle of us only if she didn't talk or kick. She didn't do either. Great day. Beautiful weather. Elle is subsisting on yogurt, wheat thins and cheddar bunnies. She ate 4 yogurts today.
Day 3: lazy morning. Ken got up with Tag around 8. Elle and I woke up around 10. Headed to Mission Bay Park where Tag, Elle and I hung out at another park/playground and Ken got in an 8 mile run. (Seriously, he could run the 1/2 marathon tomorrow without a problem.) If we make it back there, we'll definitely buy a kite first. 4 kids (2 Elle's age) were flying them.
After eating at In-and-Out Burger (Ken loves this take out place which we don't have in Seattle), we headed to the Wild Animal Park. Elle's refers to this as the Savannah. We spent 5 hours exploring the park and talking about the animals. There were giraffes, lions, cheetahs, rhinos, flamingos, big horned sheep and much more. We saw Condors which is kinda neat because these are often mentioned in the Diego books (If you don't know, Diego is Dora's cousin.) They also have at least 10 elephants, including a baby that is 3 weeks old. The baby nurses on it's mother a total of about 1 hour a day, which makes me a little jealous. The baby is about 400 pounds. Elle got to feed and pet deer, and we all rode the carousel.
We finished the day back in Old Town for another Mexican dinner. Back at the hotel, we're all exhausted. Tag got a bath which he really needed. Ken, Elle and Tag are all asleep. I'm waiting for the laundry to finish and I'll join them.
